Raptor Identification Course

Would you like to improve your skills in identifying falcons, hawks and eagles?  Well then join us for a field based idenitification workshop this April. Rivers & Birds will present this two day workshop in collaboration with Hawkwatch International and the Santa Fe Raptor Center. The classroom portion of the workshop occurs on Saturday, April 2  from 10 am to 3 pm at Rivers & Birds' office with a visual slide presentation course by Wildlife Biologist Roberta Salazar and a presentation of live birds by the Santa Fe Raptor Center.  The next day we will leave from  Rivers & Birds at 8 a.m. to journey (carpool style) to the Sandia Mountains near Albuquerque where we will hike uphill, 2 miles to view raptors on their seasonal migration in flight.  Folks from Hawkwatch International volunteers will be on hand to help identify birds. It is not uncommon to see 50 raptors within a couple of hours in flight at this site.

Cost for this workshop is $95 per person.  The workshop is limited to 20 people so please rsvp by emailing us at riversandbirds@gmail.com or call 776-5200. A limited number of scholarships are available based on need and a first come serve basis.
